I started in geospatial science - undergrad and grad degrees in a field where everything is data and the answer is usually "depends how you measure it." That turned out to be decent training for technical sales. Spent three years selling in AI and ML, mostly to teams who knew the math better than I did. The job was less pitching and more translation - figuring out what a buyer actually needed and whether the product could honestly do it. I led go-to-market at Qwak from early stage through acquisition, which taught me what a GTM motion looks like when it's working and, more usefully, what it looks like when it isn't. Now I'm a GTM Engineer at Anthropic - building the internal systems our own go-to-market org runs on. I came in from the sales side, not an engineering background, but that jump was possible. The tool I'm building with is the one that opened the door. So I spend my days shipping Claude-powered workflows for sales, RevOps, and our cross-functional partners - the tooling that lets a few hundred sellers move faster. The thread through all of it is that I'd rather earn the next thing than coast on the last one. Still competitive, still impatient. And increasingly convinced that what made the builder path accessible to me is about to make it accessible to a lot of people who don't think of themselves as engineers....yet.
